Marine Litter Management
The small-scale funding agreement between United Nations Environment Program and the Urban Research Institute is part of the Cooperation Agreement between UNEP/MAP 2016-2021 and the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea. The agreement foresees a pilot project for the management of marine waste in Albania, which serves the implementation of the Regional Plan for the Management of Marine Litter in the Mediterranean, developed under the Protocol for the protection of the Mediterranean Sea from pollution from land-based activities, within the framework of the Barcelona Convention. Albania, as party to this Convention, must implement the measures provided in the Regional Plan.
